Hassan Eisakhil is playing against Mohammad Nabi in Shpageeza Cricket League.

Former Afghanistan captain Mohammad Nabi’s son, Hassan Eisakhil, hit a six off his father’s first ball during a Shpageeza Cricket League match at Kabul International Stadium on Tuesday. Nabi was playing for Mis Ainak Region, while his son Hassan was part of the opposing team, Amo Region.

After Eisakhil's dominating outing with the bat against his father, scoring 12 runs alongside his partner Shahidullah, Nabi was removed from the bowling attack.

Nabi's son Hassan Eisakhil played a dominating inning, scoring 52 off 36 balls with a strike rate of 144.44. His performance helped set a strong foundation for his team. With his half-century, Amo Sharks posted a total of 162 runs, getting all out in 19.4 overs. The team experienced a late collapse, losing five wickets in the final 12 deliveries while adding just six runs.

While bowling, Naveed Zadran was the pick of the bowlers for the Mis Ainak Knights as he picked up four wickets, while Khalil Gurbaz took three. Mujeeb Ur Rahman contributed with two wickets. The Rahmanullah Gurbaz-led side started their chase strongly, reaching 105 for 1 in 8.2 overs.

Mis Ainak Knights needed 58 runs from the remaining 70 balls. Wafullah Stanikzai Tarakhil shifted the momentum of the game by making a quick 49 off 21 balls at a strike rate of 233.33 before his dismissal. His opening partner, Khalid Taniwal, remained unbeaten on 42 from 21 balls, batting alongside captain Rahmanullah Gurbaz.

Nabi, who captained Afghanistan in the 2014 Asia Cup, where they famously defeated Bangladesh, marking their first win against a Test-playing nation has announced his ODI retirement after the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year, but later said he was “still thinking” about his future in the 50-over format as he has dreams of playing international cricket with his son.

“These might not be my last ODIs, I will probably play less ODIs and give chances to the youngsters to build experience. I’ve discussed with the senior players and in the high-level games, maybe or maybe not, we’ll see. It will depend on my fitness,” Nabi had told the International Cricket Council (ICC).

It’s my dream [to play international cricket with his son]. Hopefully, we can do it. He is doing very well … he is a hard worker and I’m also pushing him to do work. I want him to make his own goals, if you want to get to be a high-level cricketer, you have to work hard. It’s not enough to make 50 or 60, you have to score 100-plus. He’s listening and pushing all the time. When he can talk to me, I try to give him advice to give him confidence for the game,” Nabi had added.

Though Eisakhil is yet to make his international debut, the right-handed batter has played four First-Class matches and 25 T20 games.
