Mavi made his last IPL appearance for Gujarat Titans.

In a major blow to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), their young Indian pacer Shivam Mavi has been ruled out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 due to injury. Mavi joined LSG in the pre-season camp after the auction in December. However, the injury prevented him from making his LSG debut.

“The franchise will continue to support Shivam and is committed to aiding him in his recovery process. We wish him a swift and complete return, and are sure he will be back fitter and stronger,” LSG said in a statement on April 3.

Mavi was roped in for Rs 6.4 crore by the franchise. LSG are yet to name his replacement. The nature of his injury has not been revealed either.

Mavi is the third LSG pacer to get ruled out of IPL 2024. Mark Wood was the first to withdraw from the cash-rich tournament to manage his workload. The English all-rounder was replaced by New Zealand's Matt Henry.

While Mavi did not play a single game, LSG's Mayank Yadav has made a name for himself by troubling batters with his raw pace. He has six wickets from just two games and is second in the race for the purple cap.
