MS Dhoni’s childhood friend Paramjit Singh has provided a big update regarding the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain's future in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Speculation has been rampant about Dhoni's IPL future since he retired from international cricket in 2020.
While many anticipated that Dhoni would retire from the IPL after the 2020 edition, the former India captain famously responded with a firm 'definitely not' to retirement questions and continued to play in the next three seasons as well.
Many expected that he would retire from his illustrious career in 2023, especially after he led the CSK to a record-equalling fifth IPL title.
However, the wicketkeeper-batter declared his intention to participate in at least one more season of the IPL. While it remains to be seen whether he will retire or extend his playing career beyond IPL 2024, Paramjit has asserted that his friend will compete for at least one more season following this year's edition.

“There is no way he will retire after the upcoming season. He is fit enough to play for another two seasons. He will return for IPL 2025,” Paramjit told in a viral video.

For those who are not aware, Paramjit has played a huge role in MS Dhoni's cricket journey. Recently, the former India skipper showed his appreciation for Paramjit by displaying the sticker of his sports shop 'Prime Sports' on his bat. Paramjit was instrumental in helping MS Dhoni secure his first bat sponsorship.
MS Dhoni eyes historic title
In IPL 2024, MS Dhoni and CSK have the chance to make history. CSK could become the first team to win the IPL six times, while Dhoni has the opportunity to become the first captain to achieve this feat.
Scheduled to commence on March 22, IPL 2024 will see CSK facing Royal Challengers Bangalore in the tournament opener in Chennai. The final is slated to take place in Chennai as well.
