Kohli was adjudged out LBW to a high full toss bowled by Harshit Rana during KKR vs RCB clash.

Former India's explosive batter Virender Sehwag isn't happy with Virat Kohli's behaviour with the umpires following his controversial dismissal during the IPL 2024 clash between Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). RCB's superstar batter Kohli was adjudged out LBW to a high full toss bowled by Harshit Rana. The on-field decision was upheld by the third umpire, prompting a visible display of frustration from Kohli as he walked back to the pavilion. This included gestures and words directed towards the umpires, which resulted in a 50 per cent match fee fine from the BCCI. This decision visibly frustrated Kohli, who expressed his anger by slamming a dustbin and repeatedly striking the ground with his bat as he walked off the field.

The broadcasting channel felt compelled to clarify the dismissal, assuring viewers that it was a legitimate decision according to the Laws of Cricket. They explained that Kohli was stationed outside his crease at the time of the delivery, and the dipping ball would have gone below his waistline had he been standing within the crease.

Sehwag comes down heavily on Kohli's brash behaviour towards umpires

Meanwhile, right ahead of RCB's next clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), Sehwag has put forth his views on Kohli's behaviour towards the umpire after his controversial dismissal while discussing the incident on 'Club Prairie Fire' podcast. Sehwag contrasted Kohli's reaction with that of legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar, suggesting Tendulkar would have accepted the umpire's call with grace.

“It is not the question of whether he was out or not or was it a no-ball or not. Virat should respect the umpires. Once you have been given out, you should put your head down and return back to the dressing room. Arguing with umpires is not correct. He has the right to discuss things with the umpires, but what he did was not right. This is what I learned from Sachin Tendulkar. He never said anything to the umpires despite several wrong decisions during his career," Sehwag said on The Club Prairie Fire.

“There have been times when Virat was out but was not given by the umpires. There were also instances when he was not out but was given his marching orders. That’s a human error and every human makes a mistake. You can’t change the decision of the umpire and the best thing is to accept it and go back,” Sehwag added.

Despite Kohli's early dismissal, RCB put up a commendable effort, ultimately succumbing by a narrow margin of 1 run in the chase of 221 runs. However, despite RCB's lacklustre campaign in the IPL 2024's, Kohli is having a stunning run with the bat. Kohli has scored 379 runs in a total of eight games in IPL 2024, which also saw him cracking a stunning century. RCB are gearing up for their next IPL 2024 encounter against Pat Cummins-led Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad on April 25.
