MS Dhoni's retirement is one of the biggest topics of discussion in the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. The former Chennai Super Kings captain is already setting highlights after highlights with his role of finisher. However, fans are also concerned about his knee for which he underwent a surgery last year. Many believe that this could be the final season for Dhoni before he announces his retirement. However, his former CSK teammate Suresh Raina has turned down the retirement rumours and said that the legendary cricketer will be playing one more IPL season.
Raina on MS Dhoni's retirement
In a video posted by Jio Cinema from their official ‘X’ account, the host can be seen asking former Indian cricketers RP Singh and Suresh Raina about MS Dhoni's retirement. First, RP Singh also vouched that it doesn't look like Dhoni will retire but he later directed to Raina sitting beside him.
Raina right away said ‘khelenge’ indicating that Dhoni will be playing the next season of IPL as well for Chennai Super Kings. To this RP Singh replied by saying “ek bola hai to do khelenge (if he has said one that means he will play two).”
CSK’s bowling consultant Eric Simmons on Dhoni's knee
Dhoni was seen limping after the MI vs CSK clash. He smashed Hardik Pandya for hat-trick of sixes in the final over of CSK's innings but later was seen having trouble walking and this has worried fans a lot. CSK's bowling consultant Eric Simmons called Dhoni the hardest man he has ever met. He praised his ability to ignore his pain and said fans are actually more concerned about his injuries than he actually is.
"Everyone else is more interested in his injuries than he is. He's one of the hardest men I've ever come across. I don't even think we know to what extent he may or may not be in pain. He just carries on and does his thing," Simmons said.
"I'm sure there's some niggle. He just has that ability to ignore what it is and do what needs to be done. We're more concerned about his injuries. When I say we, I mean the public (which) is more concerned about his injuries than he is," he added.
