Axar Patel, Aman Hakim Khan and Ripal Patel become first trio to achieve this feat in IPL history

In seamer-friendly conditions at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium, Ahmedabad, Mohammed Shami let the new ball do the talking as he took a four-fer to reduce Delhi Capitals (DC) for 23/5 in five overs. The trio of Axar Patel, Aman Hakim and Ripal Patel achieve this feat in this years IPL history. 

 

Once again, the responsibility was on Axar Patel to rebuild the innings. This time he had support from Aman Hakim Khan who went on to score his maiden half-century. After Axar's wicket, Khan got support from Ripal Patel who contributed with a crucial cameo. This was the first instance of two fifty-plus partnerships in an innings after the fall of fifth wicket.
 

Axar Patel and Aman Hakim shared a 50-run partnership for the sixth wicket. The southpaw scored 27 runs from 30 balls including two fours and one six. Later, Aman shared a 53-run partnership for the seventh wicket with Ripal.
 

The two fifty-plus partnership helped Capitals post a respectable total of 130/8 after a batting collapse of epic proportions.
 

First ever instance in IPL of two 50+ partnerships in an innings after the fall of fifth wicket. Aman scored 51 runs from 44 deliveries including three fours and as many sixes. Ripal's 13-ball 23 cameo included two fours and one six.

Earlier, Mohammed Shami registered the best bowling figures by a Gujarat Titans (GT) bowler breaking Rashid Khan's record. Shami got the wicket of Phil Salt with the first ball of the innings. He got rid of Rilee Rosouw, Manish Pandey and Priyam Garg as well. He took four wickets for just 11 runs, his best bowling figures of IPL career. With a four-fer, Shami also got the purple cap. 

Shami got the four wickets in powerplay overs itself. It is the second-best bowling display by a bowler in IPL in powerplay overs. Later in the innings, Mohit Sharma got the wickets of Axar Patel and Ripal Patel with the old ball. With the wicket of Ripal in the final over, he completed 100 wickets in IPL. Mohit conceded 33 runs from his quota of four overs in the low-scoring encounter but got two crucial wickets to restrict the score to 130/8.
