The fallout between Australia batsman David Warner and Indian Premier League (IPL) side SunRisers Hyderabad (SRH) is known to all but a recent development added a new episode to the event before the start of the new IPL season.
Former SRH opener David Warner will probably play for a new IPL team this season but the left-handed batsman has not stopped talking about his former team.
In a reply to a fan’s tweet, Warner said that he doubts if SRH will have a good auction ahead of 2022 IPL season. The fan asked SRH director of cricket, Tom Moody, if the team will have a good auction for the next season. Warner replied saying that he does not think so.
The 35-year-old batter’s cheeky reply was, “Baha doubt it.”
SRH, on the other hand, did not take too long in noting the tweet and said that it seems he is back to his best form. Though, the Hyderabad franchise did not forget to congratulate their former opening batsman for his Ashes victory.
“Congrats on the Ashes win Davey - Looks like you are back to form and enjoying the after party! On the other hand we hope you have a good auction,” said the SRH franchise in a tweet.
Moody’s tweet
Initially Tom Moody had taken to Twitter, to congratulate the Australia cricket team for their thumping victory in the Ashes third Test at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) against England.
Moody thinks that England team have a lot of problems and the cracks are hidden by the brilliance of skipper Joe Root and pacer James Anderson.
“A total demolition job from Australia. England have had their gaping holes in test cricket covered for too long by two superstars, these are exposed away from home!” Moody had tweeted.
Poor form
Warner had a poor form in the 2021 season of the IPL, notching only 195 runs from eight matches. It was the first time since 2014 that he had scored less than 500 runs in an IPL season. SRH later announced that Warner had been replaced by New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson as captain of the team. The Aussie opener was eventually dropped from the squad as well.
But since then, Warner has managed to win the player of the tournament as Australia won the T20 World Cup. He scored 240 runs in four innings in the Ashes test series. Australia registered a 3-0 lead on Tuesday against England in the Ashes.
