Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered a convincing win over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) becoming the first team to sail into the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 playoffs.

The Australian paceman Josh Hazlewood's best bowling figures in IPL helped CSK restrict SRH for a meager 134/7. Hazlewood picked up three wickets for 24 runs including the important wicket of Jason Roy in the fourth over. The former champions then chased down the target convincingly winning by six wickets.

Speaking at the post-match presentation ceremony, the 30-year old revealed that getting the SRH opener’s wicket was big and it was good to put the pressure back on the opposition early in the innings.

“Getting Roy was a big wicket, and it was good to put pressure back on them early. The wicket offered a little bit, it was on the slower side and a little low as well. We are happy we are applying whatever we are doing in the practice.”

Hazlewood went on to pick two more wickets in the death overs. Abhishek Sharma and Abdul Samad who were looking to accelerate, lost their wickets to the pacer in 17th over.

The tall pacer, who missed the first leg of the IPL said sharing the dressing room with players like DJ Bravo has been a great learning curve for him.

“I put in a lot of hardwork and learnt a lot every game. It’s hard to learn since there’s a different team every game, but it’s satisfying. It’s good to learn from DJ Bravo over the last few weeks too, and it’s been a great learning curve for me.”

CSK lead the points table with 18 points from 11 games. The table-toppers will lock horns with Rajasthan Royals on Saturday in Abu Dhabi. Royals are currently  languishing at the table with eight points from 11 gam
