The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 season has seen several brilliant individual performances, with two centurions in the mix as well. Four of the players in the top 10 divided are from the new entrants Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Gujarat Titans (GT) - two each - and have given all the other new teams a run for their money with their performances.
Here, we look at the top 10 batters from the ongoing season:
Jos Buttler (Rajasthan Royals)
Leading the pack is Rajasthan Royals (RR) wicketkeeper, Jos Buttler. With 272 runs in five matches, Buttler has been at the top following his brilliant century against Mumbai Indians (MI). The Englishman also has two half-centuries - an unbeaten 70 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and 54 against the Titans and has notched a strike rate of 152.8.
KL Rahul (Lucknow Super Giants)
The LSG skipper showed fans his true form in the last match against Mumbai with an unbeaten 103 off just 60 balls to push him to second on the list of the top 10 batters. He also has one 50 (68 against Sunrisers Hyderabad) and has been striking at a rate of 144.17. He has scored 235 runs this season.
Hardik Pandya (Gujarat Titans)
Hardik Pandya's captaincy has pushed the team to the top of the points table with four wins in six matches this season. He missed the last match against the Punjab Kings (PBKS) because of a groin injury, but the game before that, Hardik hit a brilliant unbeaten 87 against RR to take his tally for the season to 228. Before that, he also hit an unbeaten 50 in GT's loss to the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Shivam Dube (Chennai Super Kings)
The Chennai Super Kings (CSK) all-rounder has been in good form with the bat, scoring 226 runs. Apart from a three-run score against SRH, Dube has hit 49 against the Super Giants, 57 against PBKS, and a brilliant 46-ball 95 in CSK's first win of the season over RCB. Dube has averaged 45.20 this season as his team have struggled for form.
Liam Livingstone (Punjab Kings)
With 224 runs, the Englishman has been one of the better batters for Punjab this season with consistent performances for his team. Liam Livingstone has a brilliant strike rate of 185.12 and has hit three half-centuries this season. The best of them came in a losing cause against the Titans, where Livingstone smashed a brilliant 27-ball 64 to help his team post a competitive score.
Quinton de Kock (Lucknow Super Giants)
Quinton de Kock is known in the IPL for his explosive batting, and the South African has been the same for LSG this season, with 212 runs under his kitty. His highest of 80 came against the Delhi Capitals, hitting nine fours and two sixes at a strike rate of 153.84. He also hit a 50 in LSG's win over CSK back in March.
Rahul Tripathi (Sunrisers Hyderabad)
Having moved from Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to SRH at the IPL mega auction, Rahul Tripathi has been a major force in the team's early resurgence. After a below-par start with two losses, Hyderabad has won their last four matches and Tripathi has been the player to help his side close out their matches. Even though he has only one 50, a 37-ball 71 against his former side, Tripathi hit a 22-ball 34 in a win over PBKS and 39 runs off 15 balls in a victory over CSK, helping him score 205 at a strike rate of 173.72.
Shikhar Dhawan (Punjab Kings)
PBKS have the abilities of Shikhar Dhawan to lean on this season, and the southpaw has been in good form as well, with 205 runs to his name. His only 50-plus score came against the Mumbai Indians, and Dhawan has also managed a strike rate of 128.93 this season.
Suryakumar Yadav (Mumbai Indians)
In a dismal season for MI, Suryakumar Yadav has been a guiding light for his team with 200 runs to his name. His highest score came against RCB, where Suryakumar hit a 37-ball 68 in their loss to Bangalore. He has an average of 66.67 runs and a strike rate of 153.84 this season.
Shubman Gill (Gujarat Titans)
The opener has 200 runs this season, helping his team to the top of the table. He hit a brilliant 96 runs off 59 balls in their win against PBKS. In the match before that, Shubman Gill hit a 46-ball 84 to help the Titans beat DC. While averaging 33.33 runs, Gill also has a strike rate of 151.51.
