Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022's leading run-getter and the Rajasthan Royals (RR) superstar Jos Buttler arrived in India on Tuesday for the upcoming season of the cash-rich tournament and his first three words after arriving were, “Where is Yuzi?”, as the team's social media handle shared in a video.
Members of the franchise's social media team posted the video on their Twitter and Instagram handles and captioned it, “Jos is here, and so are his three magic words.
In another video that the side uploaded on Monday, star Indian spinner Yuzvendra Chahal responded to the video, saying, “Jos Bhai, I’m waiting for you.”
The friendship between the duo is well-documented via their personal social media posts.
They both played crucial roles in helping the Royals to the final of the previous IPL season before eventually losing the trophy to the Gujarat Titans (GT). Buttler won the orange cap in IPL 2022 with 863 runs to his name, while Chahal was the recipient of the purple cup with 27 scalps to his name.
Meanwhile, the Royals will hope to improve on their performances from the last season and lift the trophy for the second time in 16 years. They are sticking with the same support staff that took them to the final last time around, led by Sri Lankan legend Kumar Sangakkara, who will continue to serve in the dual role of Rajasthan Royals’ director of cricket and head coach. The franchise also confirmed that he will be assisted by Trevor Penney.
Fellow Sri Lankan legend Lasith Malinga will reprise his role as the fast bowling coach, with Zubin Bharucha as strategy, development and performance director, Giles Lindsay as head of analytics and technology, Siddhartha Lahiri as support coach and Dishant Yagnik as fielding coach.
Rajasthan Royals will start their IPL 2023 campaign on April 2 in Hyderabad against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The royals have won the championship in the inaugural season of the IPL.
