The winners of 2016 edition of Indian Premier League (IPL), Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be eyeing for their second shot at the title in the 15th edition of the blockbuster league with Kane Williamson leading them once again. SRH has decided to retain local talents from Jammu & Kashmir — Umran Malik and Abdul Samad — alongside experienced New Zealand captain Williamson who led SRH in the second half last season.

Retained Players

Kane Williamson (Rs 14 crore), Abdul Samad (Rs 4 crore), Umran Malik (Rs 4 crore)

Remaining purse - Rs 68 crores

Notable exclusions

The Orange army has released their veteran batter and former skipper David Warner who was dropped from the team this year due to his poor run with the bat. The most shocking exclusion was Afghan leg spinner Rashid Khan who has rarely disappointed SRH with the ball. SRH have also released experienced Afghan all-rounder Mohammed Nabi, West Indies all-rounder Jason Holder and star England batter Johnny Bairstow.

The Hyderabad based side was loaded with promising youngsters like Priyam Garg, Abhishek Sharma and others but none have been held by the franchise. In the coming auction pool, SRH will look for players who can serve them for next few seasons and give balance to the side as it will help the franchise to win their second IPL title.
