Former batter Suresh Raina believes that Ireland's Joshua Little is one player to look out for in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 auction. The left-arm pacer has a base price of Rs 50 lakhs and is among the four Irish cricketers, along with Paul Stirling, Lorcan Tucker and Harry Tector, to take part in the auction which is scheduled to take place on Friday, December 23, in Kochi.
Recently, the 23-year-old Little also played alongside Raina for the Deccan Gladiators in the Abu Dhabi T10 League.
“Sam Curran has done really well for England as well as for Chennai Super Kings and there is Ben Stokes who has led England well. So having a top all-rounder in your team can change the movement of the game. Then there is Jaydev Unadkat who just won the Vijay Hazare Trophy and has a lot of experience in the IPL,” Raina was quoted as saying to Jio Cinema.
“Watch out for Joshua Little from Ireland. He has done really well in the World Cup just now, and I just played with him. N Jagadeesan has a very good cricketing brain, and he bats so deep and is a very smart, calculative batsman. He has done really well for Tamil Nadu, watch out for him,” the former India batter added.
Little is the second-highest wicket-taker in T20Is in 2022. He has picked up 39 wickets in 26 matches at an economy rate of 7.58 with one four-wicket haul to show for his efforts.
Little's efforts for Ireland in the T20 World Cup 2022 Super 12 were... not so little after he picked up a hat-trick against New Zealand. He became the second bowler from Ireland to get a hat-trick in T20 World Cups after Curtis Campher, who achieved the feat against the Netherlands in 2021.
In the T20 World Cup 2022, Little picked up 11 wickets from seven matches at an economy rate of seven.
