Delhi Capitals (DC) pacer Ishant Sharma has opened up on his friendship with former India and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) captain Virat Kohli, saying that the star behaves like the same West Delhi boy when he meets him. Kohli is enjoying a successful Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 season and is the fourth-highest scorer in the competition.

Speaking on the Delhi Capitals Podcast, Sharma revealed that many have not seen Kohli's West Delhi phase which he has seen while narrating an incident when they played U-17 cricket together. The two players were also seen sharing a moment together during RCB's recent match against DC.

"Virat Kohli is very nice and sophisticated now. Not many have seen his West Delhi phase. We used to play Under-17s together in Kolkata and of course, we did not have much money. There we would eat egg rolls and have soft drinks after practice, and enjoy it. I've seen that side of Virat," said Sharma.

He added that Kohli is still the same West Delhi boy whenever he meets him and that they can understand their sense of humour whenever they hang out. Kohli was also breaking into laughter while having a candid chat with Sharma and fellow DC colleague Axar Patel.

"Now also, he's been a captain and is all sophisticated but he is still the same West Delhi boy whenever he meets me. My house is in Patel Nagar and he lives in Mirabagh, both places are close by. Only we can understand our sense of humour. There are so many funny reels made on the internet that only Virat and I can understand," Sharma added.

On Thursday (May 19) night, Team India and former RCB skipper Virat Kohli smashed a century after almost four years. The happiness of his century doubled when RCB won the do-or-die match.
