Suryakumar Yadav was the hero on Friday (May 13) night as his team, the Mumbai Indians (MI) smashed a blistering 218 runs at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Suryakumar himself hit 103 runs during this innings, off just 49 balls, in what was an innings with 11 fours and 6 sixes and a strike rate of 210.20.
One particular shot that earned major praise came off Mohammed Shami's bowling, with the batter flicking the ball in a very unorthodox manner and earning praise from many.
It was a fullish delivery which was angling in towards off-stump. SKY stepped away to the leg side to create room and play what started off as a lofted off-drive. But instead, he used his wrists to slice underneath the ball and hit it over short third for a six.

The brilliance of the effort left many astounded. One particular former player was left especially astounded. This was none other than the team mentor Sachin Tendulkar, who shared his excitement about the same on Twitter.
"@surya_14kumar lit up the evening sky today! He played excellent shots through the innings but the one that stood out for me was the 6 over third man off @MdShami11. The way he opened the face of the bat to create that angle off the blade at the same time is very very tough to do and not many batters in world cricket can play that shot," he said in the tweet.
It was a maiden IPL ton for Suryakumar, who helped his team beat table-toppers Gujarat Titans (GT) by 27 runs. With a tough target to chase down, Gujarat's batters fell like a house of cards and were restricted to 191/8 despite Rashid Khan's scintillating 32-ball 79.
