Mumbai Indians (MI) began their UAE leg of the Indian Premier League (IPL) on the back foot going down against the 3-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK). The defending champions will lock horns against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Thursday (September 23), who are placed in the bottom four (sixth) on the points table. Looking at the past numbers between the two teams, the defending champions have had an upper hand winning 22 out of their 28 encounters against the Kolkata-based franchise. However, MI skipper Rohit Sharma, who missed the last game against CSK, doesn’t want to rely on past records and believes that KKR will be high on confidence after their win over Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB).

Sharma cautioned his team saying that the game against the Eoin Morgan-led team will not be a cakewalk for them. Speaking in a video shared by Mumbai Indians on Instagram, Rohit said

“I honestly don’t believe in past records because T20 is game of..on that particular day what happens. KKR are a good opposition. They play cricket really well and they will coming off some confidence after their last win, so, it’s not going to be a cakewalk for us.”

“I know we’ve had a very handy record against them but it’s important we turn up really well on that particular day and do the job,” the 34-year-old added.

The right-handed batter ahead of the game against KKR said that his team has got all bases covered to make a comeback.

“We just have to comeback really strong and if you look at our squad, we have got all bases covered," he concluded.
