Registering victories in their respective opening matches, the resurgent Delhi Capitals (DC) clash with new entrants Gujarat Titans (GT) as Rishabh Pant-led side won the toss and opted to field first in their IPL 2022 second match on Saturday (April 2).

As far as playing XIs are concerned, Hardik Pandya made no change to his side while Pant replaced Kamlesh Nagarkoti with Bangladesh's Mustfizur Rahman.

"We would like to bat ohhh bowl first! We have a different bowling line-up so we will bowl. We felt comfortable chasing after the first game. One change. Nagarkoti out, Fizz in," DC skipper Rishabh Pant said before the match.

"To be honest we were going to bat. There is a breeze, so we don't expect dew. We trained here and we didn't dew, which is the reason why we wanted to bat. Same team," GT captain Hardik Pandya said.

Earlier, DC edged past MI by four wickets in their IPL match in their previous match. Lalit Yadav smashed 48 not out off 38 balls down the order as DC chased down the target of 178 with 10 balls to spare. On the other hand, brilliant efforts by pacer Mohammad Shami and batter Rahul Tewatia helped GT outplay Lucknow Super Giants by five wickets in a clash of two debutants in IPL 2022 in their previous clash.

Pitch report

"Fresh pitch, it's on the corner of the square which means it is big on one side. Looks almost same as the one used in the last game. Lot of grass, firm. good cary and bounce. As a bowler if you want to survive you have to bowl the hard length. Enough pace, carry and movement for the bowler. Dew factor isn't that great here, which is why this is only venue where a team batting first has won the game. WIll be interesting to see what the captain winning the toss will do," former Indian cricketer Deep Dasgupta analysed the pitch.
