Delhi Capitals (DC) registered an emphatic win against Punjab Kings (PBKS) on May 17 (Wednesday) at Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala. David Warner's men registered a 15-run win and almost brought an end to Punjab's hopes of reaching the playoffs. The Delhi-based franchise's victory was powered by a strong batting performance. All four batters who got a chance to display their skills batted superbly and helped the team post a mammoth total of 213/2.

Rilee Rossouw was the star for DC with the bat. The hard-hitting South African batter pulverised Punjab bowlers and put on an absolute masterclass of stroke-making. In his innings of 82 not out off 37 balls, Rossouw whacked six fours and clobbered as many sixes.

After the game, Rossouw stressed the importance of good starts at the top and how it makes the job of middle-order batters a lot easier.

"I thought it was pretty good. Warner and Shaw started off fantastically well for us. That has been something we have been lacking thoroughout the season. My role was to carry on the momentum and from ball one, just play my natural game and taking it deep as much as we can and capitalize towards the end on a very good wicket," said Rossouw.

DC captain David Warner after the game hit out at inconsistent pitches at Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi which has posed a great challenge for his team's batters. Rossouw echoed his captain's statements and affirmed that batting has been difficult on pitches where DC have played most of their matches.

"The wicket was really good to bat on. We haven't had many of those this season. It's just good to be on a batting wicket where the error for bowlers is marginal. Tonight we came out with the confidence that we wanted to win the game and we capitalized and took the right matchups with regards to the spinners that bowled towards me and I just took the game on," said Rossouw
