Former India cricketer Pragyan Ojha narrated an emotional conversation he had with the Team India captain and his former teammate, Rohit Sharma. Ojha, who played alongside Rohit for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Deccan Chargers and also for the Indian senior men's national team, recalled the time when the Hitman was struggling to meet ends before becoming an international star.

"When I first met Rohit in the U-15 national camp, everyone said he was a very special player. There, I played against him and took his wicket. Rohit was a typical Bombay guy who didn’t speak much but was aggressive when he played. In fact, I was very surprised as to why he was being so aggressive with me when we didn’t know each other! But after that our friendship began to grow,” Ojha recalled in an interview with Jio Cinema.

“He was from a middle-class family and I remember he once got emotional when we discussed how his budget for cricket kits was restricted. In fact, he also delivered milk packets – of course that was really a long time ago – so that he could buy his kit. Now when I see him, I feel very proud of how our journey started and where we reached,” added Ojha.

Talking about Rohit, the stylish right-handed batter has evolved into one of the greatest white-ball cricketers the world has ever seen. With his elegant stroke-making ability, the Hitman has trounced the best bowlers in the world with utter nonchalance and swagger.

The 35-year-old has led Mumbai Indians to five IPL titles and played a pivotal role in making the Mumbai-based franchise the most successful team in the cash-rich tournament. In the upcoming 16th edition of the IPL, Rohit will once again lead Mumbai Indians and would hope to take the franchise to the promised land.
