Rajasthan Royals' stand-in skipper Riyan Parag scripted history the moment he took the field for the IPL 2025 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23

Riyan Parag, filling in for Sanju Samson as captain for the Rajasthan Royals' match against Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2025, joined the ranks of the tournament's youngest-ever captains.

Due to Sanju Samson's injury concerns, Riyan Parag was appointed captain as the star wicketkeeper batter will play only as an impact player for the first three matches

At 23 years and 133 days old, Parag became the fourth youngest captain in the history of the lucrative T20 franchise league. He also holds the record for the youngest captain ever to lead the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL.

Virat Kohli holds the record for the youngest captain in IPL history, leading RCB at 22 years and 187 days old in a 2011 match against RR. Following him are Steve Smith and Suresh Raina, who captained at 22 years 344 days and 23 years 112 days, respectively.
