The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has shortlisted 350 players who are set to go under the hammer in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction. Initially, 1,355 players had registered for the auction. The finalised list includes 35 new names who had not been part of the list earlier. One of these late additions is South Africa's wicketkeeper-batter Quinton de Kock who has halved his base price to Rs 1 crore from the highest base price of Rs 2 crore he had in the mega auction.
De Kock has made a U-turn on various decisions this year. After coming out of ODI retirement and smashing a century against India in a losing cause in the decider, he has decided to give IPL another go. Last year, he represented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) who acquired his services for the base price of Rs 2 crore.
"The auction will feature 350 players and will commence at 1 pm UAE time (2.30 PM IST) on Tuesday, 16 December, at the Etihad Arena, Abu Dhabi," the BCCI said in a mail to the franchises on December 8.
"For your planning purposes, please note, subject to timings it is envisaged that the accelerated process will start after player No 70.
"The first accelerated will cover all the players from 71-350. Once these players have been presented, franchises will be requested to submit the names of the players (unpresented and unsold) from all those on the full list of 350 for further accelerated presentation.”
The auction will take place in Abu Dhabi on December 16. Players like Cameron Green, Venkatesh Iyer are expected to be in high demand.
