As per an IPL rule Abhishek Sharma will have to pay Rs 5 lakh for breaking car's glass

Star batter Abhishek Sharma yet again entertained the fans with his explosive hitting during Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) versus Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) IPL 2025 clash at the Ekana Stadium, .

Abhishek Sharma, known for his powerful hitting during the powerplay, smashed a delivery over deep midwicket. The ball not only cleared the boundary but also shattered the windshield of a display car parked near the ropes which cost him Rs 5 lakh.

The incident occurred early in SRH's innings when the southpaw faced a short-of-length ball and unleashed a fierce pull shot. The ball soared into the stands, ultimately striking the windshield of a Tata Curvv SUV located just beyond the boundary. The distinct sound of breaking glass drew immediate attention from everyone present—spectators, teammates, and commentators alike. However, due to a peculiar rule established by the IPL at the beginning of the season, the SRH player will now face a hefty fine of Rs 5 lakh for cracking the car's glass.

As part of a pre-season initiative related to IPL 2025's partnership with an automotive sponsor, a specific clause had been introduced. Prior to the tournament, Tata Motors announced a program designed to promote cricket in rural areas. Under this initiative, any player who inadvertently damaged the display car during a match would be required to donate cricket kits worth Rs 5 lakh to support rural cricket development. Thus, Abhishek Sharma's powerful shot, despite its unintentional collateral damage, triggered this philanthropic clause. The funds generated from such incidents will be specifically directed toward providing cricket equipment to underserved regions, thereby offering aspiring cricketers a better platform to pursue the sport.

In the match itself, Ishan Kishan led the charge for SRH with an unbeaten 94 runs off just 48 balls, anchoring the innings with remarkable precision and flair. His innings was significantly bolstered by aggressive contributions from the top order, including impactful starts by both Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head. Despite early breakthroughs by RCB's bowlers, SRH successfully maintained their momentum and ultimately posted a formidable total of 231 runs.
