Chennai Super Kings (CSK) faced a major setback as their captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 after getting an elbow injury. After Gaikwad's injury, CSK reappointed MS Dhoni as their captain for their remaining matches of the cash-rich league. 

Gaikwad was ruled out due to an elbow injury he sustained during the initial stages of the tournament, which has now grown into a hairline fracture, forcing him to be out of action for the rest of the season. Despite being injured, the 28-year-old star engaging in warm-up drills has caused rage among netizens on social media.

A video is going viral on social media where Gaikwad can be seen playing football alongside his teammates. After watching that video, fans started speculating that the CSK captain is fully fit, and a lot of fans questioned the authenticity of the injury news. Here is the clip. Five-time IPL champions are currently ninth in the points table. CSK were off to a good start in IPL 2025, defeating arch-rivals in their opener clash of the tournament, but the side failed to carry the momentum as they lost their four consecutive matches. CSK will now face Kolkata Knight Riders for their sixth clash of the tournament, which will take place at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
