The Delhi Capitals (DC) suffered yet another setback the day after Harry Brook withdrew from the 2025 Indian Premier League, as their star player from India is expected to miss one or two games for personal reasons. On March 24, DC will play the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the opening match of the 2025 Indian Premier League. Rahul may miss one or two IPL matches due to the birth of his first kid, according to a PTI report. A staggering Rs 14 crore was spent by DC at the IPL 2025 mega-auction. He and Axar Patel are the front-runners to captain DC in the 2025 Indian Premier League.
Axar and Rahul are contenders to lead DC
Rahul has led India in all three formats. He captained the Lucknow Super Giants for three seasons and the Punjab Kings for two. At one point, he served as India's vice-captain in all three forms. Rahul continues to play often in Test matches and ODIs despite no longer being a member of the leadership group. Axar has not held the position of captain in the IPL.

In January, he joined the leadership group and helped Suryakumar Yadav during the T20I series against England. For the top position, DC might possibly consider Faf du Plessis. The only team that has not revealed their captain yet is DC.
Harry Brook pulls out of IPL 2025
Harry Brook has decided to withdraw from the 2025 IPL. On Sunday, March 9, the right-handed batsman made his decision public. Brook, who first signed with DC before the 2024 IPL auction, had also withdrawn from the previous season. At Rs 6.25 crore, he returned to DC. Brook's withdrawal from the 2025 Indian Premier League could result in a two-year ban.
In the opening week of the season, the Delhi Capitals will play the Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 30 and the Lucknow Super Giants on March 24. On April 13, they will take on the Mumbai Indians in their debut match at the Arun Jaitely Stadium.
