Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) endured a 55-run defeat in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Friday, May 22 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The contest was filled with so many memorable moments. One of them was Travis Head and Virat Kohli's banter.
Travis Head celebrates his first IPL wicket in nine years
There was no handshake between the two players after the game came to an end. Kohli refused to shake hands with Head, despite the latter offering. It was very clear that Virat was in no mood to sort things out with the Australian.
Things took an interesting turn, as Travis Head shared an Instagram Story which is being considered as a dig at Virat. During the second innings, Virat was seen asking Travis to bowl off-spin. After Virat Kohli got out on 15 runs, Travis came to bowl at 19th over and managed to remove RCB skipper Rajat Patidar, who scored 56 runs off 39 deliveries.
Interestingly, it was Travis Head's first IPL wicket after a long gap of nine years. It is evident that Travis cherished his wicket, as he shared an Instagram story with a unique caption.
"keep the bod guessing." captioned Head.
Big win for SRH
Coming back to the game, RCB managed to reach 200/4 at the end of the second innings. Venkatesh Iyer and Virat Kohli managed to give a strong start, with the left-handed opener scoring quick 44 off just 19 balls before losing his wicket to Eshan Malinga's bowling.
After Venkatesh Iyer's dismissal, RCB endured a mini collapse, as Virat was removed on 15 runs off 11 balls by Sakib Hussain. Devdutt Padikkal was looking fabulous but got dismissed on 21 runs by Eshan. Rajat Patidar and Krunal Pandya stitched a strong partnership to take RCB ahead, but it was not enough as they were looking just for a top two finish in the table. Krunal Pandya stayed unbeaten on 41 off 31 with Tim David on the other end with 15 unbeaten off 7 balls.
