IPL 2026 schedule to be out in 2-3 days

This phased approach is a strategic necessity, as the board must coordinate with upcoming state assembly elections in Assam, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. By releasing the calendar in stages, the BCCI can ensure that match dates do not conflict with polling days, allowing for better security and logistical management across various venues.

Stage set for IPL 2026

Fans already have a firm date to circle on their calendars, as the tournament is officially set to begin on March 28. This start date was confirmed by broadcaster Star Sports just before the T20 World Cup final in Ahmedabad. The 2026 season carries extra significance for the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, which is slated to host the opening match, the final on May 31, and at least one playoff game, marking a high-profile return for the iconic Bengaluru venue after a period of suspension.

The upcoming edition, which is the 19th season of the league, is expected to be the largest in history with a record 84 matches. Royal Challengers Bengaluru will enter the competition as defending champions after their 2025 title victory. While the full itinerary remains pending the Election Commission's final timetable, the first phase of the schedule will provide the much-anticipated roadmap for the opening weeks of the summer's biggest cricketing event.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru will enter the 2026 IPL season as the defending champions, following their hard-fought six-run victory over the Punjab Kings in the 2025 final at Ahmedabad. As the franchise prepares for its title defense, Karnataka State Cricket Association Secretary Santosh Menon has confirmed that the iconic M. Chinnaswamy Stadium will return to the fold, hosting five of RCB’s home fixtures. In a significant nod to the venue's importance, the stadium has also been selected to host the IPL 2026 final and one of the high-stakes playoff matches.
