In the encounter, the seasoned Indian speed bowler broke a huge all-time IPL record.

In four overs, Bhuvneshwar Kumar scored 48 runs. He took the crucial wicket of Tilak Varma, who amassed a half-century against the RCB. In his IPL career, he has currently claimed 184 wickets. The pacer with the most wickets in IPL history is currently Bhuvneshwar Kumar. Dwayne Bravo, who has taken 183 wickets in his Test career, has been surpassed by him.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) maintained their undefeated away record in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) with their third victory in four games. After six straight losses, this was the Rajat Patidar-led team's first win over the Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Wankhede Stadium in ten games. MI lost openers Ryan Rickleton (17) and Rohit Sharma (17) in the powerplay while chasing 222. Suryakumar Yadav (28) and Will Jacks (12) were ineffective.
Tilak Varma completed a redemption after a brilliant performance of 56 in 29 balls, while Hardik Pandya (42 of 15) came very close to pulling off a miracle. But both were removed in three balls or less. While Yash Dayal and Josh Hazlewood both claimed two wickets, Krunal Pandya claimed four. Earlier, after MI won the toss and decided to bowl first, RCB put 221 on the board. Rajat Patidar hammered 64, while Virat Kohli top scored with 67. Jitesh Sharma, however, hit 40 off of 19 deliveries.
