Delhi Capitals (DC) star batter Mitchell Marsh smashed 72 runs in 36 balls during their Indian Premier League 2025 opener clash against Lucknow Super Giants at ACA International Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam. Despite Marsh's batting carnage LSG managed to score 209 runs in 20 overs.
Despite losing 30 runs short on a good batting track losing seven wickets for 61 runs after being 133 for 1 in the 12th over Marsh believes that 210 is a very competitive score.
"I thought we batted really well, wanted a few more after the way we started, but I think 210 is a very competitive score. I think it's all about backing your skills. Need to keep a partnership going when you are in. You got to back the guys coming in after that kind of start" said Mitchell Marsh during mid inning.
Marsh also lavished praise on DC bowlers for pulling things back after getting hit for maximums. Mitchell Starc who was expensive in his first over made a comeback and got three scalps concerning 42 runs in his four-over spell. Kuldeep Yadav was the pick of the bowlers as he shifted the momentum of the game. The veteran spinner picked up two wickets conceding 20 runs in four overs. Apart from Kuldeep, Vipraj Nigam and Mukesh Kumar got one wicket each.
"Credit to the Delhi boys to pull things back like the way they did. It was swinging a bit I think (laughs.) I like Vizag, it's a beautiful wicket down here, the batters enjoyed it. Hopefully our bowlers will do the job. Life is good mate. No bowling (laughs.)" added Marsh.
Delhi Capitals need 210 runs to win this clash. While writing this copy, DC failed to get a good start as they lost three wickets in three overs.
