IPL 2026 Auction: Five-time champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) entered the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini auction with a Rs 43.40 crore purse. CSK bagged a a historic deal when the uncapped Indian player Prashant Veer fetched a record price. After an intense bidding war, CSK successfully acquired the all-rounder for a colossal sum of Rs 14.20 crore, making him the most expensive uncapped player in the entire history of the tournament. CSK also made an overseas acquisition to bolster their bowling attack. They secured the services of West Indies all-rounder Akeal Hosein, purchasing him at his base price of Rs 2 crore. This indicates CSK's dual approach in the auction: investing heavily in highly-rated domestic talent while also making strategic, value-for-money international purchases. The didn't stop there as they ended up roping in 19-year-old Kartik Sharma for Rs 14.20 crore, which made him the joint-most expensive uncapped player in IPL history

CSK made headlines before the mini auction after their blockbuster trade to get Sanju Samson in place of Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran. The deal also involved major salary adjustments. After spending 12 successful years with CSK, Jadeja returns to RR on a reduced salary of Rs14 crore, down from the ₹18 crore he earned at CSK. Sanju Samson, meanwhile, will continue to earn Rs 18 crore, the same amount he received as RR captain in the last edition of the tournament.
