Following their narrow 12-run loss to the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi on Sunday, the Delhi Capitals tied an unpleasant record. After four consecutive victories, it was DC's first IPL 2025 loss. DC chased a goal of 206 runs against MI but were swept out for 193 in 19 overs. The team captained by Axar Patel had won in Chennai, Bengaluru, and Vizag but had lost at home in Delhi.
Karun Nair (89 off 40 balls) and Abishek Porel (33 off 25 balls) combined for 119 runs for the second wicket, putting the Capitals in a strong position to win their fifth game of the year. However, DC collapsed after Mitchell Santner and Karn Sharma fired Porel and Nair. For 36 runs, Karn took three wickets.
The Capitals and Royal Challengers Bengaluru are currently tied for the most home venue losses following this setback in Delhi. When RCB lost to DC at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru earlier last week, they set the unwanted record. Both teams are now on equal footing. The Mumbai Indians are ranked third with 33 losses at the Wankhede Stadium, while the Kolkata Knight Riders are ranked second with 38 losses at Eden Gardens, their home field.
