It is tough being Musheer Khan right now. The Punjab Kings (PBKS) all-rounder was on sidelines but he had to watch his team face a six-run defeat at Narendra Modi Stadium, Ahmedabad in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 final. But, Musheer shrugged off defeat like his brother did after Test squad snub and reached Mumbai to play in T20 Mumbai 2025 opener For ARCS Andheri who lost to SoBo Mumbai Falcons in Super Over after rain interruption.
Captain Shivam Dube asked Musheer to bowl the third over of the innings. He delivered the wicket of opener Ishan Mulchandani. He was bowled for eight runs from five balls by left-arm spinner. He conceded nine runs in his first over. SoBo Mumbai Falcons were 26/1 after three overs when rain played spoilsport. Captain Angrish Raghuvanshi was batting on 15 off 11 balls.
Andheri crumble in Super Over
Not a single over was bowled after that in SoBo Mumbai Falcons' innings. The match progressed to the Super Over. Badrey Alam who conceded 10 runs in his first over was handed the ball. Akash Prakar walked out to bat with Raghuvanshi. Parkar hit two fours and two sixes in first four overs. On the fifth ball, Raghuvanshi got run out trying to complete the second run. On the last ball, Parkar smashed another six. SoBo Mumbai Falcons scored 27 runs in the over.
In the run chase, Dube and Musheer walked out to bat. Dube scored a single off the first ball off Siddharth Raut. He followed it up with a dot ball to Musheer. The 20-year-old took a single but the match was already lost. Dube hit a four and a six followed by a single. ARCS Andheri scored 13 runs and lost the super over.
Musheer's IPL debut
Earlier, Musheer made his IPL debut in Qualifier 1 against RCB. He was not supposed to make his IPL debut but had to walk out as impact player after PBKS lost six wickets for 60 runs in the ninth over. Musheer could not do any damage and was knocked over for a three-ball duck by leg-spinner Suyash Sharma. He bowled two overs, conceded 27 runs while defending a target of 102. Injury replacement Mayank Agarwal became Musheer's maiden IPL wicket.
Musheer is expected to be back in action when ARCS Andheri go up against Aakash Tigers on June 5.
