The emotional Virat Kohli couldn't help but broke down in tears after Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) 18-year-long wait of an IPL title finally came to an end in 2025 on June 3. RCB defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by six runs in the IPL 2025 final at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad. RCB secured their first-ever IPL trophy since the inception of glitzy league in 2008, Virat Kohli was overwhelmed with emotion. Kohli's emotions began to surface even in the final over of the match, as it became clear that RCB was on the verge of winning the title and finally lifting the coveted trophy for the first time in their IPL history.

Kohli played a crucial innings for RCB, top-scoring with 43 runs. His contribution helped the team put up a competitive total of 190/9 on the board. RCB bowlers then did the rest as they limited PBKS for 184/7. Throughout the IPL 2025 tournament, Kohli consistently performed well and finished as RCB's leading run-scorer, amassing a total of 657 runs in 15 matches.
Meanwhile, right after the win, Kohli spoke his heart out and let everyone know who special this title triumph is for him.
"This win is as much for the fans as it is for the team. It's been 18 long years. I've given this team my youth, prime and experience. I've tried to win it every season, gave it everything I have. To finally have it is an unbelievable feeling. Never thought this day would come, I was overcome with emotion after the last ball was bowled," Kohli said at the post-match presentation.
"Gave each and every ounce of my energy and it's an amazing feeling. What ABD has done for the franchise is tremendous, I told him, 'this win is as much yours as it is ours. I want you to celebrate with us'. He's been the POTM most times in the franchise despite being retired for four years. He tells you his impact on the league, team and me. He deserves to be on the podium, lifting the cup," he added.
