Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) star speedster Akash Deep has joined the squad ahead of their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 clash against the Mumbai Indians, which will take place on April 4 at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. LSG have had a depleted pace attack in the ongoing season of the cash-rich league, The franchise brought Shardul Thakur as an injury replacement of Mohsin Khan. 

LSG had a forgetful outing in the IPL so far as the franchise managed to win a single clash out of their three outings. They are currently sixth in the points table tally with two points. LSG took their social media to share a clip of Akash Deep joining the squad before their fourth clash of the tournament. Here is the video.

Akash Deep was doing rehabilitation alongside Mumbai Indians' (MI) Jasprit Bumrah at the Centre of Excellence (formerly NCA) in Bengaluru. The star pacer has been out of action since the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. He sustained a back injury during the fourth Test of the series at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in December 2024. 

Akash Deep was LSG's third-most expensive pick in the IPL 2025 mega-auction. The franchise spent  Rs 8 crore to get his services for the ongoing season. Deep has played a total of eight matches for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and taken seven wickets at an average of 45.57 and an economy rate of 11.67 runs per over. He played just one game for RCB in the previous season.
