Gujarat Titans captain Shubman Gill has addressed the ongoing rumors circulating about his relationship status. The young right-handed batter stated that he remains unfazed by the constant speculation surrounding his relationships. Gill clarified that he has been single for more than three years and that his primary focus is currently directed towards his professional career in cricket.
Shubman Gill finally addresses dating rumours
Over the past few years, Gill has been linked romantically with legendary Sachin Tendulkar's daughter Sara Tendulkar and Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan, fueling media and fan speculation. The topic even found its way into a pre-match interaction when former New Zealand cricketer and current commentator Danny Morrison playfully inquired about Gill's wedding plans during the toss ahead of the Gujarat Titans' IPL 2025 match against the Kolkata Knight Riders.
In a recent interview with the Hollywood Reporter India, Shubman Gill finally put a full stop on all the dating rumours. He firmly stated that he has been single for over three years. Gill described the rumors connecting him with various individuals as ridiculous, particularly noting that he has never even had the opportunity to meet some of the people he has been supposedly linked with.
"I mean, I've been single for over three years, and so many speculations and rumours link me with different people. And sometimes, it's so ridiculous that I would have never even seen or met that person ever in my life. And I would be hearing rumours that why I'm with this person and this person where else I'd be like," said Gill.
India's vice captain made it clear that his sole focus at this stage of his life is his professional cricket career. Gill further elaborated on the demanding nature of his profession, pointing out that he spends approximately 300 days out of the year traveling and living in close quarters with his fellow players. This constant travel and intense professional environment, according to Gill, effectively leaves him with no time or opportunity to cultivate and maintain a romantic relationship.
"Like, I know I'm so focused on what I need to do in my professional career. There is no space in my life to be with someone like 300 days a year. We are on the road travelling somewhere. So there is hardly any time to be able to be with someone or invest, you know, the time to be with someone in a relationship," he added.
Gill firmly dismissed all the ongoing rumors and speculation concerning his personal life. In addition to clarifying his relationship status, Gujarat Titans captain also shared insights into how he manages the distractions of crowd chants while he is batting or fielding on the cricket field. Gill explained that when he is fully focused and "in the zone" during a match, his complete attention is directed towards the bowler and the evolving dynamics of the game itself. External noise, such as crowd chants, seemingly fades into the background as he concentrates on the task at hand.
"I've told this many times, but I don't know it's like an automatic switch. I don't think any batter can hear those chants. It's like it's hard for me to explain. But when you're in the zone, you can't hear people chanting or anything. You are so focused on the job that is there for you to finish. You're so focused on okay, this bowler is bowling at me. This is how much we need to score or these are the things that I need to do," Gill concluded.
Gill is currently leadingGT franchise in the ongoing Indian Premier League 2025 season. Under his captaincy, GT are the table toppers with a total of 12 points. Looking ahead, GT are scheduled to play their next match against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur on Monday, April 28.
