IPL 2026 auction: Gujarat Titans approached the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 auction, being held in Abu Dhabi, with a remaining purse of Rs 12.9 crore. GT kicked off the strengthening of their IPL 2026 squad, with the acquisition of Ashok Sharma for ₹90 lakh marking a key early move. This deal came after a highly competitive auction for the uncapped player, which saw a remarkable 13 bids placed. The bidding war was primarily driven by the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), who pushed the price all the way up to Rs 85 lakh before GT intervened to successfully seal the deal for the promising talent.

Entering the Abu Dhabi auction with a purse of Rs 12.90 crore and five vacant slots, including four overseas spots, GT is strategically focused on addressing noticeable gaps, particularly in their middle order and death bowling department. These adjustments are critical after the franchise finished third in the 2025 league stage but failed to progress past the playoffs. To facilitate these targeted buys, the Titans retained their core group of star performers, including Shubman Gill, Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler, Rashid Khan, Mohammed Siraj, and Kagiso Rabada. Conversely, they released experienced international players like Gerald Coetzee, Dasun Shanaka, and Karim Janat, creating necessary financial space for their strategic auction picks.
