The Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) have maintained a sensational form throughout the ongoing IPL season so far. The Bengaluru-based franchise currently sits on the second place on the IPL points table. They have accumulated 17 points from 12 matches so far and are only behind the Gujarat Titans due to an inferior net run-rate.
RCB were set to resume their IPL campaign with a clash against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M. Chinnaswamy stadium on May 17 but persistent rain saw the match getting called off. Had RCB won the match against KKR, they would have become the first team to qualify for the playoffs in the ongoing season.
RCB is one of the top contenders to win IPL 2025
With the Bengaluru-based franchise being one of the top contenders to lift the IPL trophy this season, RCB legend AB de Villiers made a special promise to the side and star batter Virat Kohli as well.

The former South Africa wicketkeeper-batter stated that he will come to watch the final live if RCB ends up making it. The IPL final will be played on June 3 at a venue that is yet to be announced.
“Mark my words, if RCB makes it to the final, I will be there at the stadium with the boys. Nothing will give me more pleasure than to lift that trophy with Virat Kohli. I've tried that for many many years,” de Villiers said during an Istagram Live session
De Villiers, who represented RCB for 11 seasons in the IPL, is one of the finest players to ever feature for the franchise. He played several magnificent knocks for the side and carried them to victory on numerous occasions. However, despite his stellar performances, he wasn't able to take RCB to their first-ever IPL title.
The Bengaluru-based franchise ended up coming incredibly close in the 2016 season where they made it all the way to the final and dominated opposing teams throughout the campaign. However, they eventually were defeated by the Sunrisers Hyderabad and that loss is still fresh in every RCB fan's mind.
Following their clash against KKR, RCB will be locking horns against the Sunrisers Hyderabad on May 23 before concluding their league stage with the clash against the Lucknow Super Giants at the Ekana Cricket stadium on May 27.
