India's T20 World Cup 2026 winner rewarded with SRH captaincy in Pat Cummins' absence

Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have appointed Ishan Kishan as their stand-in captain for the upcoming edition of the tournament in absence of regular skipper Pat Cummins.  Apart from Ishan, destructive batter Abhishek Sharma will be his deputy for the cash-rich league.

Notably, Pat Cummins will miss a few matches of the tournament as he is currently recovering from a lumbar stress back injury. SRH took their 'X' to announce that Australia's star will miss a few matches of the showpiece event. 

Notably, 2016 winners SRH will start their IPL 2026 campaign against defending champions Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on March 28 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. 

Ishan Kishan's T20 World Cup performance

India wicketkeeper batter Ishan Kishan had a great T20 World Cup as he smashed 317 runs for the Suryakumar Yadav-led side. He played an important role throughout the tournament and helped India defend their title. 

Abhishek Sharma's T20 World Cup performance

Abhishek Sharma had a forgetful outing in the T20 World Cup as he got out on a duck three times. However, 141 runs in 8 matches, with an average of 17.62 and a strong strike rate of 158.42.
