Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) captain Rajat Patidar reckons that the main reason behind their loss against Gujarat Titans (GT) was a flop show by top-order batters in the powerplay. RCB lost their three wickets in the powerplay during their third clash of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
The opening duo, Phil Sailt and Virat Kohli who are going through the purple patch in the mega event got out on 7 and 14 runs, respectively. RCB lost their three wickets inside the powerplay. GT's Mohammed Siraj got two and Arshad Khan got one. Patidar also said that the team were not looking to cross the 200 run mark; they want to score 190 runs after losing three wickets in powerplay.

"I think the intent was good, but we shouldn't have lost as many as 3 wickets in the PP, it was one wicket too many. Not 200, we were targeting around 190 after the powerplay, but losing early wickets harmed this match. The conditions did get better, the bowlers were amazing trying to defend this total, to take this chase into the 18th over was amazing to watch. The way Jitesh, Liam Livingstone, and Tim David, the way they batted, it was a positive for us. We're confident about the batting line-up, they're showing some positive intent which is very good for us" said Patidar after RCB vs GT clash.
Shubman Gill-led Gujarat defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru by eight wickets to register their second win in the ongoing cash-rich league. On the other hand, RCB who were unbeaten in their first two away matches of the mega event has lost their first clash in IPL 2025.
After losing their third clash against GT, RCB will now face arch-rivals Mumbai Indians (MI) for their fourth clash of the tournament which will take place on April 7 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
