Shubman Gill-led Gujarat Titans is competing one-on-one against Shreyas Iyer's Punjab Kings in match 5 of the ongoing edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, which is taking place at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, on March 25 (Tuesday). Both teams are eyeing a winning start to their campaign here. GT won the toss and elected to bowl first.
PBKS built their team from scratch and would be hoping to change their fortunes under the brand new leadership of Iyer and coach Ricky Ponting. GT, who won the title in their first season and finished as a runner-up in the second, failed to match the level in the 2024 edition. They, too would be hoping to have a great season here.
Captains at toss
"We will bowl first. It is a good cricketing wet. There is some dew here. Just keeping it in mind. Dew is a big factor here. Big targets can be chased down. Preparation has been amazing. We have our bases covered. The bowling attack is good. Very fortunate to play at the biggest stage of the world," said Shubman Gill after winning the toss.
"I would have loved to bowl. I am always some one who loves a chase. Take the challenge. there are so many familiar faces around. There is ricky. You need unity and synergy in the team. We have got a lot of all-rounders in the team. We are spoilt for choices. Since we will be batting first, we have only one spinner and three seamers," said Shreyas Iyer at toss.
