RCB defeated PBKS by 6 runs in IPL 2025 final

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 finally came to an end and the glitzy league has got its new winner in Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB). RCB ended their 18-year-long wait to lift their maiden IPL title as they defeated Punjab Kings (PBKS) by 6 runs in the thrilling final at the Narendra Modi stadium in Ahmedabad.

How much prize money RCB will get after winning IPL 2025 title?

RCB will thus be awarded a substantial prize of Rs 20 crore, while the runners-up PBKS will receive a noteworthy sum of 12.5 crore. This tournament, widely recognised as the most popular T20 league globally, continues to uphold its reputation as the highest-paying cricket competition in the world.

The structure of the prize money distribution for IPL 2025 has remained consistent with the format established in 2022 and maintained in the subsequent years, underscoring the tournament's enduring financial stability and robust market presence. The significant championship prize of Rs 20 crore and the runners-up reward of ₹12.5 crore represent a remarkable escalation from the rewards offered in the league's inaugural season.

In the very first season of the IPL, the Rajasthan Royals, as champions, earned ₹4.8 crore, while the Chennai Super Kings, who finished as runners-up, received 2.4 crore. This comparison clearly illustrates the substantial growth in the prize money offered over the course of the tournament's history, now more than four times the initial amounts.

Teams that successfully navigate their way to the playoff stages of the IPL 2025 are also rewarded with substantial prize money. Gujarat Titans, who were eliminated during the Eliminator match, will receive a significant amount of ₹6.5 crore. Similarly, the Mumbai Indians, who were knocked out in Qualifier 2, will be awarded ₹7 crore for their efforts in the tournament.

Beyond team success, individual excellence throughout IPL 2025 is also acknowledged through a range of prestigious awards, each accompanied by a prize of Rs 10 lakh. The highly coveted Orange Cap is bestowed upon the player who accumulates the most runs in the entire tournament, recognizing their batting prowess. On the other hand, the Purple Cap is awarded to the bowler who takes the most wickets, celebrating their bowling achievements. Gujarat Titans' batter Sai Sudharsan and Prasidh Krishna not only took away the Orange Cap and Purple Cap respectively but also Rs 10 lakh each as rewards.
