Jofra Archer and Yashasvi Jaiswal were the highlights of the Rajasthan Royals' two-game winning streak, which handed the Punjab Kings their first IPL 2025 loss. The Royals defeated the Kings by 50 runs on Saturday, April 5 in Mullanpur, thanks to a scorching opening over from Archer and 67 runs from Jaiswal. Punjab has now lost five of their previous six home games, which furthered their dismal run at Mullnapur.
The Punjab Kings chose to bowl first that day after winning the toss in front of their home crowd. As he and Yashasvi Jaiswal began to play their shots, Sanju Samson, who had at last returned to playing full-time, set the tone early on with a boundary.

"The way we started in the powerplay, we thought we were running a bit short but the quality of the batters we have got, 205 was a very good score on the board. Very young batting lineup, very young in age but they have played a lot of games for the country. They are managing and playing the game very well. (on Archer and Sandeep) That's a very deadly combo,. one guy bowling at 150 and one guy at 115. (on being told Sandeep hit 130kph) Oh did he? We should cut a cake on that maybe (smiles). I can trust them a bit more with the pressure overs. (on Archer) We all love it when he bowls fast. Doing it for me in the last 4 years, he is one of the best guys in India right now bowling fast," said Sajnu Samson in the post-match presentation.
Jofra Archer and Sandeep Sharma were the ones that rocked the PBKS lineup on a day when Royals batters received a lot of accolades. Archer finished with figures of 3 for 25 in his four overs after dismissing Shreyas Iyer and Priyansh Arya in the opening over. Sandeep led his team to victory by taking two wickets for 21 runs in his allotted overs. Samson declared that the team management is pleased with the pair's efforts and praised them as a lethal combination. On April 9, the Rajasthan Royals will play the Gujarat Titans at Ahmedabad.
