Delhi Capitals (DC) have come under sharp criticism following a questionable team selection in their IPL 2026 clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), with former India pacer Dodda Ganesh openly slamming the franchise’s approach.

Ganesh questions DC’s team combination, calls out Miller omission

Ganesh didn’t mince words while reacting to DC’s decision to bench David Miller for the second consecutive game. The Delhi Capitals instead persisted with Pathum Nissanka at the top, a move that failed to deliver against Chennai Super Kings.

“There’s so much Indian batting talent available in Delhi’s camp. They can so easily open with Shaw/Rana/Porel along with KL, & have Miller in the middle order. Instead, the geniuses play Nissanka at the top & drop Miller. Tell me, how can this be a serious cricket team? #IPL2026,” Ganesh wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

The criticism centered around DC’s inability to optimize their batting resources, especially with experienced options available. Nissanka, who had impressed in the previous game, managed just 19 runs, further intensifying scrutiny over the team’s selection calls.

Top-order collapse dents DC as CSK take control of chase

The selection gamble backfired as DC struggled to build momentum with the bat, managing only 155 runs in their allotted 20 overs. Contributions from Tristan Stubbs (38 off 31), Sameer Rizvi (40 off 24), and Ashutosh Sharma (14 off 5) helped them reach a competitive total after early setbacks.

However, the top order faltered significantly, with Nissanka (19 off 15), KL Rahul (12 off 13), Nitish Rana (15 off 13), Karun Nair (13 off 13), and captain Axar Patel (2 off 6) failing to make an impact.

In response, CSK appeared firmly in control of the chase, reaching 96 for 2 in 12 overs. Sanju Samson led the charge with a fluent 54 off 33, while Kartik Sharma (16 off 18) provided steady support.

With the match tilting heavily in CSK’s favor, DC’s selection decisions have once again come under the spotlight, raising serious questions about their strategy moving forward.
