Mumbai Indians captain Hardik Pandya has provided a massive boost to the franchise ahead of their crucial IPL 2026 clash against Kolkata Knight Riders after returning to full-fledged training on Monday. Pandya, who has missed Mumbai Indians’ last few matches because of a back injury, was seen training at high intensity during the team’s practice session before the important encounter.
With MI already eliminated from the playoff race, Pandya’s possible return could still provide momentum and balance to the side heading into the final phase of the campaign.
Hardik Pandya gives strong indication of comeback against KKR
Pandya looked fully involved during Mumbai Indians’ training session and was among the first players to arrive for practice. The all-rounder spent considerable time in both batting and bowling drills and reportedly trained without any visible discomfort.
The MI skipper bowled at full pace during the nets while also looking fluent with the bat, raising hopes of a return against KKR on Wednesday. His active participation quickly grabbed attention as fans and team management closely monitored his fitness progress.
Hardik Pandya’s presence could prove crucial for Mumbai Indians considering his ability to contribute in multiple departments. Even though MI are no longer in contention for the IPL 2026 playoffs, the franchise will be eager to finish the season strongly against KKR.
Why Pandya has been missing from Mumbai Indians’ squad
Pandya has been unavailable for Mumbai Indians due to severe back spasms that ruled him out of the latter half of IPL 2026. Reports suggested that the MI medical staff had initially not cleared him either to train or participate in matches, forcing the all-rounder to miss three consecutive games.
