Rohit Sharma will once again be unavailable for the Mumbai Indians as they take on the Sunrisers Hyderabad at Wankhede Stadium this Wednesday, April 29. This marks the team's eighth match of the 2026 IPL season, and notably, it is the fourth consecutive game that the former captain has been forced to sit out.

Rohit Sharma to miss couple of more IPL 2026 matches

The veteran batter has been sidelined since sustaining a hamstring injury during the clash against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru on April 12. Since that encounter, he has remained off the field to focus on his recovery. Providing clarity on his teammate's status during the toss, current MI skipper Hardik Pandya offered a significant update. Hardik confirmed that Rohit is not yet fully fit, noting that his current fitness levels are not up to the mark. He further indicated that the former captain will likely require a few more matches before he is ready to return to competitive play and perform at full capacity.

"Rohit will need a couple more games; he's trying, but it's not up to the mark," Hardik said during the toss.

Besides Rohit, MI are also without the services of Quinton de Kock and Mitchell Santner. While, Santner has been officially ruled out of the entire tournament following a shoulder injury, De Kock is missing the SRH game due to a wrist issue. In response, skipper Hardik Pandya confirmed that Ryan Rickelton has been brought into the side to cover for De Kock’s absence.
