Highlights:

Ravindra Jadeja's strike rate in IPL 2025 is just over 125.

Dewald Brevis hit 4 sixes in his 42-run knock on CSK debut.

Virender Sehwag does not want Sam Curran to bat at no.3.

Former Indian opener Virender Sehwag did not hold back as he criticised Chennai Super Kings' (CSK) veteran all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for his knock against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Jadeja was promoted to no.4 and he scored 21 runs from 17 balls. Sehwag questioned Jadeja's strike rate and his approach. He feels that CSK players have given up and they are just waiting for the tournament to get over so that they can go home.

“Wasn’t I saying that I feel like going home midway through the tournament. CSK’s batters are also perhaps thinking that way. Their batters are wondering when they will get back home," Sehwag said while speaking on Cricbuzz during the innings break.

“When will the tournament end? At least one of them should have taken responsibility. Jadeja has got a useless strike rate, but at least try to stay out there till the 15th or 18th over," he said.

Jadeja was knocked over by Sri Lanka's Kamindu Mendis. The former CSK captain scored at a strike rate of 123.53. In the ongoing season, he is CSK's third-highest run scorer. The southpaw has 166 runs from nine innings at an average of 27.67. His strike rate is 125.75, underwhelming for the modern-day T20 game.

Sehwag baffled by Curran's batting position, suggests ideal order

Sehwag was not happy with the shuffle in the batting order. He was baffled by the decision to send Sam Curran to bat at no.3. He wanted Dewald Brevis to bat at that position. He also pointed out that CSK are missing the services of their captain Ruturaj Gaikwad.

“I can’t understand what Sam Curran is doing at No.3 in this line-up. He has played up the order for sure, he has batted No.4 in ILT20 and he has played that role intelligently. But, in this line-up, when you have Brevis, play him at No.3," Sehwag said.

“Then Dube can come in next, followed by Jadeja, Sam Curran and Deepak Hooda. They are missing Ruturaj Gaikwad in this line-up, he used to consistently make runs in Chennai," he added.

On his CSK debut, Brevis scored 42 runs from 25 balls, featuring one four and four sixes. His stay at the crease came to an end as Mendis took an acrobatic catch. Shivam Dube scored 12 runs from nine balls whereas Deepak Hooda contributed with a 21-ball 22. CSK were bowled out for 154 and SRH won the game by five wickets. CSK lost their seventh match of the season and practically ruled out of the playoffs race.
