The race for the prestigious Purple Cap in the IPL 2026 has officially come to an end, with Gujarat Titans' (GT) lethal pacer Kagiso Rabada emerging as the winner. As the accolade given to the competition's top-wicket taker, the Purple Cap remains one of the most prestigious individual awards in the history of the tournament.
Kagiso Rabada won the title by taking a total of 29 wickets in just 17 outings as of the time of writing. Rabada achieved the milestone in his third over of the innings, dismissing Devdutt Padikkal for just one run after the batter was caught by Arshad Khan.
Kagiso played a key role in GT's successful campaign, consistently picking up wickets in every phase of the game. The South African pacer dropped his best bowling figures of 3/25 in the league stage game against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
