As the IPL 2025 is set to resume on Saturday, developments related to player replacements from different franchises are flowing in. Following Delhi Capitals' move of bringing in Mustafizur Rahman, a fresh update from Lucknow Super Giants' camp has dropped. As per an IPL Media Advisory, the franchise has brought in Kiwi pacer William O'Rourke in place of the injured Mayank Yadav.

LSG Bring William O'Rourke in Place for Mayank Yadav
It must be noted that Mayank Yadav, who emerged as a revelation in the IPL 2024, didn't feature in any of the games this season till now and will not compete in the upcoming games as well, owing to a back injury. However, as the IPL provides the leeway to bring in replacements, the LSG have utilised the privilege to bring 23-year-old promising bowler from New Zealand, Will O'Rourke, as a substitute for Yadav.
Lucknow Super Giants have had a tough season till now. Having played 11 matches, the LSG have won 5 out of them and lost the remaining. With 10 points on the table, they are sitting in 7th position on the table. While they are still alive in the playoff race, but they are at a precarious situation where one more loss will put their campaign in the drain.

Mayank Yadav's ill-fate with injuries continues
As for Mayank Yadav, the injury issues have been lingering since last season. He made a name for himself by clicking the speeds of high 150s. The express speed fast-tracked his selection to the Indian squad. He made his debut in the home series against Bangladesh at the end of 2024. The IPL 2025 was supposed to be the next step in the career of Mayank Yadav, but things have quickly gone south for the pacer.
One's loss is another person's opportunity, as William O'Rourke has the chance to become a household name. If he gets the play time, then it will be intriguing to see how he will fare in the IPL. Rourke can take the spotlight by turning the tide in favour of Rishabh Pant and co.
