Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) may have roped in only one overseas pacer – Anrich Nortje – in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 mini-auction but they are sending their bowlers overseas to prepare ahead of their fourth season.
As per a report by Cricbuzz, LSG bowlers will join their subsidiary franchise in SA20 League, the Durban Super Giants. The report further mentioned that LSG are flouting no protocols in doing so and have already got the approval from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
So far, the list includes Avesh Khan, Mohsin Khan, Naman Tiwari and a few others. They will train under the watchful eye of Lance Klusener, Tom Moody, Bharat Arun and Carl Crowe. All four of them are part of both franchises.
Avesh and Mohsin are coming off injuries. Avesh hasn't played a single match since the previous IPL. Mohsin missed the entire IPL 2025. The left-arm pacer hasn’t played a game in entire 2025. Both of them are not part of their respective states’ squads for Vijay Hazare Trophy 2025-26.
In addition, their new recruit Tiwari has not been named in Uttar Pradesh’s squad for the domestic 50-over tournament as well. He was roped in for Rs 1 crore. While the report did not mention Mayank Yadav, his name is not in Delhi’s squad for the white-ball tournament either.
Players LSG got at the auction
LSG went into the auction with Rs 22.95 crore in the purse. They went all out for Sri Lanka pacer Matheesha Pathirana but Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) outbid them to acquire his services for RS 18 crore. After that, they got Nortje for his base price of Rs 2 crore.
LSG engaged in another bidding war but lost out on Liam Livingstone as their purse ran out. The Englishman went to Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) for Rs 13 crore. They got Australia’s wicketkeeper-batter Josh Inglis instead.
LSG's other overseas pick was Wanindu Hasaranga at Rs 2 crore. They wanted a leg-spinner in the side after letting go of Ravi Bishnoi. Their other two picks were uncapped batters Mukul Choudhary (Rs 2.60 crore) and Akshat Raghuwanshi (Rs 2.20 crore).
