Punjab Kings (PBKS) star batter Shashank Singh lavished praise on former Chennai Super Kings (CSK) captain MS Dhoni calling him the 'best finisher in the world' ahead of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. Shashank had a great season for Punjab in IPL 2024 after he was mistakenly bought by the franchise at the auction. The 33-year-old left everyone in awe of his marvellous strokeplay, scoring 354 runs from 14 matches at an average of 44.25 with two half-centuries to his name.
After his impressive performance in IPL 2024, he was the one retention by PBKS for Rs 5.5 Crore out of two retentions. PBKS had a forgetful IPL season and they just retained Shashank Singh, Prabhsimran Singh before the mega auction for the marquee event.
"MS Dhoni is the Best Finisher in the World, he is a Legend. When I met him, he knew my name & that is very big thing for me because a Legend like Mahi bhai knows me is a big thing, and he gave me some advice & that helped me a lot" said Shashank on Shubhankar Mishra's youtube channel.
MS Dhoni holds a great record in the IPL, he is arguably the best skipper to led a franchise in the cash-rich league. MS Dhoni-led CSK won five IPL titles which is joint most by any team.
The upcoming edition of the IPL is scheduled to start from March 22. Defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will lock horns against Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) for the tournament opener at Eden Gardens in Kolkata. PBKS will start their IPL 2025 campaign against GT on March 25 and CSK will face MI for their opener clash on March 23.
PBKS and CSK are scheduled to play two matches against each other on April 8 and 30, which will take place at Maharaja Yadavindra Singh Cricket Stadium in Punjab and M. A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai respectively.
