Following his team's loss to the Rajasthan Royals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 on March 30 in Guwahati, Chennai Super Kings star MS Dhoni made a touching gesture. Following the fierce match, Dhoni went to see how Rahul Dravid, the head coach of the Rajasthan Royals, was feeling. Dravid had been using crutches since suffering a leg injury while playing cricket in Bengaluru prior to the event. His huge social media following swiftly praised Dhoni's sportsmanship and regard for the great player, and thus his gesture was not overlooked.
MS Dhoni meets Rahul Dravid after the match
Even though CSK suffered their second consecutive IPL 2025 defeat, many were moved by the sight of the two legendary characters spending a moment together. Dravid has been with the Royals the entire season despite his injuries, cheering on his team from the dugout during their opening three games.
Nitish Rana's outstanding 81 off 36 balls helped RR, who were put to bat first, to post 182. Even with their bowlers' best efforts, CSK's batting problems persisted. Due to the inability of the top-order batters, Shivam Dube, Rahul Tripathi, Vijay Shankar, and Rachin Ravindra, to find their rhythm, captain Ruturaj Gaikwad was left to shoulder most of the burden. CSK remained in the chase thanks to Gaikwad's 63 off 44 balls, but their innings collapsed when he was dismissed.
Fans' expectations were momentarily heightened when MS Dhoni was promoted to number seven, but the legendary finisher was unable to duplicate his magic. With 20 runs remaining, Dhoni scored a six and a boundary in the last over before Sandeep Sharma removed him on the first valid ball thanks to a brilliant catch by Shimron Hetmyer.
CSK lost for the second time in a row, falling to seventh place on the points table. While the Rajasthan Royals prepare for their next matchup with the Punjab Kings, CSK now turns their attention to the forthcoming match against the Delhi Capitals in the hopes of recovering more strongly.
