MS Dhoni's parents, Pan Singh and Devaki Devi, came to watch the IPL 2025 clash between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Chepauk stadium on April 5, Saturday. Dhoni's parents' appearance during the match sparked his IPL retirement talks.
It's not often that both of Dhoni's parents are seen in the stands watching him play in an IPL game, which left fans speculating about their idol Dhoni's IPL retirement.

MS Dhoni, who stands out as one of the most accomplished captains in the history of the Indian Premier League, is currently 43 years old and participating in his 18th IPL season. It's quite rare to see players of his age still competing at this level, but Dhoni has not only continued to play but has also consistently contributed to the Chennai Super Kings' needs with his still-impressive reflexes behind the wickets.
However, the 43-year-old's recent performances with CSK have faced scrutiny, particularly after the team couldn't bag wins in their last two matches. Dhoni specifically drew criticism for coming in to bat late during their 50-run defeat against the Royal Challengers Bangalore at Chepauk. He arrived at the crease when the team's chances of winning were practically nonexistent.
MS Dhoni's captaincy in the IPL is nothing short of legendary. He's steered the Chennai Super Kings to victory a remarkable five times, in addition to securing two Champions League titles. At 43 years of age, he stands alone as the only captain in IPL history to have achieved over 100 wins and is also the most experienced leader in the league, having captained in 226 games.
Throughout his IPL career, MS Dhoni has stepped onto the field for a total of 267 matches. In his 232 innings at bat, he has accumulated an impressive 5,289 runs. His batting ability is highlighted by a strong average of 39.18 and a rapid strike rate of 137.70. Specifically for the Chennai Super Kings, the superstar has played in 237 of their memorable contests, amassing 4,715 runs with a solid batting average of 40.30 and a quick strike rate of 139.46.
Coming back to the match, Delhi Capitals captain Axar Patel won the coin toss and elected to bat first against CSK. DC rode on KL Rahul's splendid 77-run knock to post a competitive total of 183/6. For CSK, Khaleel Ahmed remained the pick of the bowlers with a spell of 2/25.
